Fine Arts Academy - Drama, Grades 5-12
Assistance League of Flintridge is continuing its after-school and summer drama workshops for students in La Cañada Flintridge. ALFie Players is open to students enrolled in 4th or 5th grades and 6th grade. The workshop is appropriate for both beginning and experienced drama students. ALFie Youth Theater is open to 7th - 12th grade students. All ALFie Drama Workshop students learn acting and staging techniques and often create their own costumes and sets. The program director writes and/or adapts plays to suit the skills and interests of the players. Each program culminates with a public performance at Lanterman Auditorium.
Director
Koni McCurdy brings professional stage experience to her work as director of the ALFie Players. She holds a bachelor's degree in theater arts from Rollins College and did post-graduate work at The Drama Studio in London and the Juilliard School in New York City. In 1989, she started L.A. Troupe, which performs classical theater, such as Shakespeare, and myths and legends at elementary and secondary schools. She writes and adapts plays for the ALFie Drama productions. She now begins her twelth year with the program. Heather McNamara, her assistant director, is beginning her third year with the program.
